SIMPLE STORE SETUP

The Store Manager has everything you need to set up and run your store, submit your site to search engines, keep track of your sales and customer data, and check your SEO statistics.

Getting there:

TO THE STORE MANAGER (You can also use the link from the Mall home page [Links: Seller Sign in]

Store Setup Steps:

Click [Home: Profile] and fill in the appropriate information. From the Home tab you can also change your password, check the IP connection of users, and change seller packages (upgrades)

Categories: Under the Products Link you can set up your store categories (products will later be listed under Your category and the Mall Category)

After you set up your shipping (below) you can list products easily by clicking either [Products: Categories] or [Products: Products] and then clicking on the appropriate store category to add an item. Product files can also be exported and imported as .CSV files from respective categories or from the main [Products] page.

Handling Images. Product Images are uploaded when you list your product. Other site images, such as clipart or logos must be uploaded by clicking [Tools: Image Manager]

Shipping Zones: First Select [Products: Shipping Zones]. US can be one zone or you can differentiate by regions- you will have to put in costs for weight for each zone. You can also set up different countries as zones, but you’ll have to supply weight costs for them as well. (Try to think of the average weight of your items as a starting point. If you sell something really light like postcards,  you might want to go by ounces and 1st class mail. Heavier items might be a combination of Priority and Ground shipping) Shipping Costs: Now that you’ve established zones - put in costs per weight so the cart will know what shipping charges to use. Later, when you list your products you will list the weight as an attribute.

GOOGLE BASE

Appearing on Google Base is important to everyone and we want to assure you that we constantly upload all product files to Google Base. We do them en-masse and they show up in a way that clicking on the product will bring the customer directly to your store.

If you prefer to submit your own products to Google base please contact us and we will give you the specifics. People who may want to do this would be those who want to add more attributes to their products. We have found that our products are showing up quite well, but there’s always room for improvement and we understand that certain sellers - like book sellers - have special needs like isbn, author, date, etc. If you don’t know how to make a G-Base file, we’ll be happy to take the time and show you.

CUSTOMIZING YOUR STORE (BASIC)

How to add your logo or the name of your store in text to your template. (You should already have uploaded your logo) Keep in mind - your store name and user name don’t have to be the same. You can pick a user name that is search-engine friendly: like Bobs_ antique_furniture and then name your store something else. The user name is what will be in your URL like this:

http: //collectorsonlinemall.com/Bobs_antique_furniture

Click [Templates: Modify]

Click edit with WYSIWYG editor. REMEMBER - the site is style-sheet generated so, what you change here will change on all your pages - home, links, about, etc. Don’t put in anything you don’t want on all of the pages. Soon we will explain how to edit individual pages.

Either insert your logo where you want it. If it’s extremely large you may want to move the cart [shopping_cart] was code to a different area of you page as well as the WSA tag for product_search, because you need these. You can click on the icon to make another table beneath the large logo and then just copy and past the code for these into the new space below your logo. (with small logos you won’t have to do this).

Optional: Now you can add text or images (not product images) wherever you want. Check out some other stores and see how their’s look to get an idea.

You can also edit the pages with HTML if you’re knowledgeable about that, but please read the advanced section - there are some codes that need to remain in the page for your cart to function with the mall. You can also embed Flash or Java directly into your HTML.

Please do not remove the link to return to the mall since it makes it easier for shoppers.

When you’re done, click save. If you mess it up you can always choose another template and start over and don’t forget, we’re here to help.

Optional Menu Settings: From menu settings you can change the font, color, etc. of the template menus for your store. The products tab also lets you change the way your search box looks and the setting for how many photos and columns of photos you want on your product pages and storefront.

There are other options for the advanced users - such as changing the cart template, installing your own templates, etc. Please don’t attempt anything you don’t understand before reading the advanced Help Section.

EDITING INDIVIDUAL PAGES

You will undoubtedly want to personalize your site. You have the option of adding extra pages and filling in pages such as your about us, links, help and contact pages. [Website: Management]

Please do not add links to other aggregate store sites. Adding links to your own or friends individual stores wherever they may be is fine with us. And feel free to add any and all auction site links to help sell your products.

If you’d like to add a form to your contact page or anywhere else, just click on [Tools: New Form] After you make a form click on [Tools: Manage Forms] to add them to pages.

ADDING NEWS: Under [Extension: News] you can write newsletters or brief news bits to show up on your site.

TRACKING ORDERS

Click Orders and a pop-down list will show up to manage your customer, their orders and invoices. Here is where you set up your Payment Settings - There are a variety of options including Paypal, Google Checkout, checks, money orders, Monebookers, etc. Check the ones you want and fill in your information.

Clicking on Invoices will allow you to set up your invoices for products.

After you set up your store you will receive an email address which will be your store
name@collectorsonlinemall.com. However, you can use any email address you want in your profile. Also, when people contact you through your store it will show up under posted data under [Tools].  You can sign into your email under the Links section above.

Well, that is the basic store setup.  Once that's done, it’s really easy to run your store at Collectors Online Mall. There are a lot of features and we hope you enjoy them.

COMING SOON:

There is a members’ forum and a guestbook.  We will also be adding an advanced search option.

PROMOTING YOUR STORE

You have great products to sell and you can't just depend on Google Base and other listers to do all the work for you.   The more products you put in your store the better your chances are of being found in web searches.   Adding pertinent content to your store will also help, as will trading links with other people.  Please see our rules about links.  Basically you can link to places that complement your product, but are not aggregate shopping sites.  You can link to other websites and stores / auctions pages that you operate, but do not sell other people's products.

Any questions, feel free to contact us.
